We pick up where we left off in the previous book, with Hastain trying to dissolve Effie’s pack, and with the arrival of Mona, Effie’s mother and from the divine realm. We are also given more information about the night Effie left the realm and ended up on Earth.

Mona wipes the minds of the attendees, except Effie’s, her mates, and those with true magic, and replaces it with memories of a mate celebration and with a threat from Hastain leading everyone to think he has gone feral.

Mona explains to Effie and her mates that female shifters are in danger because of people like Hastain, who are involved in shifter trafficking, and to fix the problem true magic needs to be brought back to Earth, where evil will be brought to justice.

Her mother tells her that she needs Effie and her mates to help open the gate to the divine realm to allow this to happen, but first she needs to awaken her magic. To do this she needs to channel magic through her necklace, using two specific stones.

I think this gives you an idea of what the plot is for the rest of the book, so I won’t give away anything more than just letting you know that they embark on a mission to find the stones and unlock Effie’s magic. But this is no small feat, and they need to dodge danger throughout the book.

Like the previous books, this one ends on a cliffhanger and it’s intense and has you wanting to grab the last book to find out Effie and her mates’ fates at the hands of the Lycans.

This book moved a lot quicker and so much happened that it made it a really enjoyable and exciting read.
