Pain (Curse of the Gods Book 5) - Jaymin Eve and Jane Washington

We start off the final book in this series with Emmy being turned into the goddess of fertility after Staviti killed her and Willa bringing her back. The group is also stuck living on Pica’s platform with the goddess not wanting them to leave.

Willa cannot figure out why her mother is acting different to the other servers in Topia and tells the Abcurses they need to go back to the temple she was taken to earlier in the series where the servers are made.

Through her mother’s thoughts Willa learns that she is creation, which explains how she was able to save Emmy. Her power rivals that of Staviti, which is why he wants her dead.

Pica throws Willa a party to introduce her to the other gods and goddesses, in hope that they will support her to overthrow Staviti and bring back balance. To show her power, Willa frees all the souls from the banishment cave.

Leden appears and informs Willa that she needs to release the souls so that they are no longer tortured. She also creates a god of flattery from a server, to prove how powerful she is. When she does this, Staviti sends servers in with weapons and the gods flee through portals Cyrus had ready. Pica gets her server to take Willa to a safe house, without the Abcurses, and threatens to send her to the imprisonment realm if she leaves Pica. Willa tricks Pica into letting her see the boys and promises to bring Rau back, instead she uses the chains from Rau’s body and takes Pica to the imprisonment realm.

Willa finds Jakan in the realm and he tells her he’s her father, and she enlists his help in taking down Staviti and the two escape back to Topia. They come up with a plan to not only take down Staviti but also restore balance to the worlds.

I absolutely loved the conclusion to this series, even with all its ups and downs, this story leaves you feeling happy with the ending but sad that the adventure is over.
