This is a story about a woman who sneaks away from her abusive husband, with her young daughter in the middle of the night. After driving through multiple states, she finds herself having to live out of her car until she can get a job.

She is eventually rescued by three former military men, who she then becomes a housekeeper for After a few weeks of living with them, they fall in love and begin a relationship.

While this is ultimately a journey of healing for the main characters both physically, psychologically, and romantically, I did find parts of cringey, especially when the female character experiences her first satisfying intimate moment.

I also have a hard time with reverse harem stories in contemporary romance novels where children are involved and it isn’t the norm of the world. I know these are works of fiction, but once the book has ended, I always find myself thinking how the characters spend the rest of their lives together, and how having multiple father figures would affect that child growing up. But like I said before this is something I struggle with and should not affect how you view the author’s work.

I did enjoy the plot and how the female character finds her inner strength to leave the relationship, learns to trust again, and realizes that not all men are bad.

It was a well written book (one where I didn’t find myself picking up errors) that I thoroughly enjoyed and would probably read again.
