If you enjoy storylines when strangers are trapped together in a secluded cabin during a snowstorm, then this book is a must-read.

Former special forces soldier, and POW, Riggs Chapman is ready to spend some time secluded away in his cabin in the Appalachian Mountains, when he falls ill. He is woken by a dog scratching at his door, leading him to Carlise Edwards.

Carlise, on the run from her stalker in Ohio, drives her SUV into a tree after sliding on snow slick roads.  This is when she encounters the dog that leads her towards Riggs’s cabin. Even though she is wary of men Carlise knows that if she doesn’t seek shelter with Riggs, she will succumb to the elements.

For the first three days, Carlise nurses Riggs back to health, while simultaneously earning the dog’s trust, who she eventually named Baxter.

During their time together Riggs and Carlise slowly start to fall for one another while mending each other's fractured psyches, allowing one another to learn to trust again. Once the storm has passed, they decide to give their new relationship a go and stay together in the cabin.

One day Riggs goes to the nearest town to have Carlise’s SUV repaired, during this time her stalker finds her and attempts to kidnap her.

This is where I will end my recap, giving you guys the opportunity to find out who the stalker is and how Riggs and Carlise get their happily ever after.

In my opinion, Baxter is the true hero and protector in this book. The story really made me feel good at the end, especially with the characters overcoming their respective issues. This is one of the books that made me fall in love with strangers being trapped in cabins during snowstorms, this book leaves you with warm fuzzy feelings.

There are some super spicy scenes for those who want that little something extra added to their escape from reality.
