We begin with the motely crew of elves, humans, and dragons setting sail towards the Southern Isles to meet and make an alliance with the pirates that Talon befriended many years before, so that they may assess just how much it has changed since he left.
Talon continues to emotionally pull away from Calista by not making plans for after the war, while still maintaining their physical relationship. No matter how hard Calista pushes Talon to confide in her he refuses time and again.
Talon meets with his former captain, Captain Ethan Blackstorm, who informs him that the Southern Isles have now become a place of ruin. Talon asks for his friend’s help, which he obliges, and Talon docks his ships with the pirates.
It is decided that Calista will infiltrate the castle and pose as a maid to obtain information about what has changed since Talon left, and how to proceed from there.
I don’t want to give away any more of the plot, but there is a war, Talon does succeed in his mission and dies, but he does not stay dead. There’s so much that happens in this book that leads to Calista and Talon’s happily ever after, and even the birth of their daughter.
This is the end of Calista and Talon’s love story, however, if you want to continue the series and read about their daughter, the series continues with Princess of Death. Please let me know your thoughts and feelings on this series in the comments below.
