In this prologue we learn more about Talon’s life before he became the Death King, how he had a pregnant wife, and when he learned of his uncle’s scheme to betray them.

Calista and Inferno journey back to Scorpion Valley, and to the castle where she grew up to find answers as to where the rest of the free dragons reside. In his study Calista finds a box with a letter addressed to her, informing her about dragons and how it is their responsibility to keep their location a secret, and a map to find the Guardians of Thalian who protect the dragons. She also learns that her father’s brother lives with the elves who protect the whereabouts of the dragons.

Calista walks the forests of Riviana Star until she is stopped by the elves, who take her to Queen Eldinar. She refuses to help Calista fight Talon or to ask the last free dragons to help, so Calista asks if she would give the information to Inferno so he can go and live with the dragons. They offer her sanctuary and agree to let Inferno go to Thalian.

After they unfuse Inferno goes to Thalian and Calista restarts her life in Riviana Star and lives in a treehouse. Talon becomes the temporary king of the underworld, which allows him to travel in spirit to where Calista is. He visits her and asks her to come back to him, to which she refuses, and he leaves. In the meantime, General Titan is making his way through the White Mountains, towards Calista.

Talon receives a note from one of his scouts that tells him that General Titan is marching on the forest with an army of ten thousand orcs. Khazmuda and Talon fly to the forest. The elves, the queen, and Calista prepare to face the orcs, and the queen blames Calista for the attack on the forest. General Titan captures Calista and is about to rape when Talon arrives, and defeats Titan.

The queen makes a deal with Talon, that if he defeats the dark elves that are a threat to the forest, then she will take them to Thalian where they can make a plea to the dragons.

This ends off the second book in this series. I think Talon somewhat redeemed himself in this one when he put Calista’s wellbeing above that of his anger. I am excited to find out how they will convince the dragons to fight for enslaved kind.

Make sure to have The Dragon King ready to continue this exciting story.
