Since she found out she was pregnant, Maisie has been on the run from her abusive ex. She buys a camper and travels across country, only ever staying for a month in one place. One night she is less than an hour away from her next rental when Maisie swerves to miss a deer and ends up in a ditch and knocked unconscious.

Sheriff Harlan Calhoun arrives at the accident scene, where he ensures that both Maisie and her daughter Audra are taken care of and at the hospital. Between him and his five brothers, they take care of Audra while Maisie is unconscious.

Maisie wakes and is automatically afraid of the men in her hospital room, especially the Sheriff since her ex was an officer, they explain that her camper is extremely damaged and when she calls the rental, she is told they rented the place to someone else. With nowhere to go Harlan offers Maisie the apartment above his garage to stay in until she figures things out.

Maisie starts to make friends with the people in the small town as well as the Calhoun brothers, and her and Harlan grow fond of one another. Maisie eventually explains to Harlan why she is on the run, and he promises to keep her and Audra safe.

I adore heartwarming stories, and this has become one of my favorites, it has everything a good tearjerker needs, a strong heroine, a lawman willing to risk it all for the woman he loves, and an adorable baby that everyone just loves.

This book has moments that make you laugh, cry, and gasp, while including characters that add that perfect amount of comedic relief. I look forward to reading more novels by this author.
