Since his father’s murder, Cian has wanted one thing and one thing alone: revenge against the criminal responsible for his death, Orson. He joins the police academy and works his way up until he is finally tasked with infiltrating Orson’s organisation.

During the staging of a murder, Cian finds the unexpected complication in the warehouse in the form of Skylar, a 23-year-old homeless woman who was just trying to find a warm place to sleep but becomes a witness to his “crime”.

Cian takes her to the farmhouse he is currently sharing with his uncle Sean, who is also out for revenge for his brother’s death, and keeps her locked up until he can convince her that she is safe with him and he wouldn’t hurt her. The two grow closer and fall in love, and Skylar helps in the takedown of Orson.

Skylar’s attempts to escape and the way she is nicknamed MacGyver left me in a fit of giggles. This was a sweet story with a sprinkle of mystery and intrigue that made it a worthwhile read that I enjoyed.
