We begin the third book in this series, with Artemis telling Sera that her brother Apollo in trapped in chains in the underworld and she needs Sera’s godlight to get past the demons to save him and find out who stole Zeus’s lightning bolt, Poseidon’s trident and Hades’ helm.
Once she saves her brother and captures the thief, Artemis will close the portals to the underworld and will be able to reestablish the pathway back to Olympus.
While out in the city of Idaea, Sera learns that Max’s father is in an institution and had been so since saving her, this causes her to feel guilty. After making her decision to help Artemis, Sera begins her training, she also befriends a Cerberus pup that becomes her familiar.
Once Ethan wakes up and explains to Sera that he was under the Dream Weavers’ compulsion when he stabbed her, she asks Artemis to protect their minds from the weavers and in return she’ll get endowed with her magic the next night.
During her endowment, something goes wrong and while trying to channel her magic into her godstone, the stone breaks and turns to dust and Sera passes out from using so much magic. One night, while she’s with Shade, Sera has a sudden burning/stabbing sensation down her back just before blue wings emerge from her and Shade collapses.
Artemis informs Sera and Shade that they need to stay away from one another as her godlight hurts Shade, and both are needed in the war.
Eeda, who is really Gaea, visits Sera again and gives her a diamond to hold her magic, Artemis dubs her Sera Sinclair first of the House of Diamond and tells her she’s ready.
At the endowment ceremony a video plays for everyone of Sera visiting Alan Roux, telling him that she’s the one that he brought back from the dead, and Carmine tries to seize her, but Shades lets his shadows loose.
Ok everyone, we’ve made it to the end of the third book, and this one was much better than the previous two, the story and writing were more concise and we’re really getting into the meat of the story.
One thing that did bother me though was what would’ve happened if Sera had just been open about everything with Artemis? Would she have gotten her questions answered? I guess we’ll have to read the final book to see what happens.
