In the wake of his mother’s betrayal, Huntley goes in search of Ivory, who is now in the hands of the Teeth.
While she is held captive, her brother Ryker makes his way to the bottom of the cliffs to save not only his sister, but a village girl, Effie, who he has fallen in love with. Effie and her family won the “Lottery” and think they are on their way to the capital, when in fact they are to be sacrificed to the Teeth and Necrosis.
Ryker and Effie, also captured by the Teeth, are reunited with Ivory deep within the Teeth’s domain.
In the meantime, Huntley and his brother, Ian, race against the clock towards the Teeth to save Ivory, on their way there his mother and her soldiers join them. However, Ivory, Ryker, and Effie find their own way out of the Teeth’s stronghold.
Instead of heading back to Huntley, Ivory makes her way back to Delacroix in search of information to assist her with healing the dragons. Huntley believes she has betrayed him, until he goes to Delacroix to confront her and finds her surrounded by books searching for the information.
The two lovers eventually return to the bottom of the cliffs and Ivory heals the dragons. While they are with the dragons, Elora has her own side story with a Necrosis, who isn’t evil and gives her the tools to help the Runes to assist with killing the other Necrosis easier
This is all I am giving away about this book. Huntley’s mother kind of redeems herself a bit, but still treats her daughter like she doesn’t matter, and I feel sorry for her.
I am also not so fond of the relationship between Ivory and Huntley, I feel like he doesn’t see things from her perspective and uses sex as a distraction to basically get his own way, also the way he to talks to her sometimes gets my hackles up. I get that his family has been through a lot but his treatment of her isn’t called for, especially since she has done everything she can to help.
If you’re as dedicated to the story and characters as I am, then you’ll want to complete this series with the final book titled The Three Kings.
