The Avowed – Ivy Asher

We begin where we left off in The Hidden, with Falon now in the hands of the Avowed and Ryn acting as their commander.

Falon tries using the same introduction with the Avowed soldiers as she did with the Hidden. Explaining that she isn’t from their world. Ryn chokes her until she passes out and takes her to Kestrel, the city of the Avowed.

Falon wakes in the dungeon in Kestrel and Ryn explains that he has been spying on the Avowed for Zeph and she is not let on that they know one another. She is taken before Lazza where she repeats her story, and he states that the Avowed now claim her and she will receive her mark. However, when she is taken to get the mark, the woman tasked to do so states that Ryn, said that she is to receive a dead mark, which will not allow Lazza to control her.

Lazza’s younger brother, Treno, starts to help Falon search for answers about her family and the two grow close.

Throughout the book Falon and Zeph share a mental connection whenever Falon is unconscious and at first, she assumes they are just dreams, but soon realizes they are more.

Falon finds her mother’s diary in the archives and learns that the woman she thought was her grandmother was her mother’s lady’s maid and that her father was a high ranking Ouphe. They escaped the world she is currently in and went to earth.

After a steamy session with Treno, Falon finds out that she is mated to him (as well as Zeph and Ryn), and no one, including her own gryphon, told her what had happened, which leads her to spiral a little.

Loa shows up and Falon and Ryn are now in danger as she has been a spy for the Avowed and is actually Ryn’s sister, Raqual.
