It was meant to be the Year of Pink for Maddison James. Each year at midnight on New Year’s Eve, her birthday, Maddi changes her hair color in hopes of a better 365 days.

Thia year it was pink, and once she finished drying her hair in a truck stop bathroom, she meets Ilia, a magic user from the Supernatural Academy and bounty hunter.

She explains to Maddi that they have been tracking her energy for the past five years, since the night the woman she believed to be her mother was killed and she sent out a pulse.

Maddi is taken to the academy where she enrolls and begins her journey in finding out what race of supe she is. Here she meets the Atlantean-five. Five men with Atlantean blood in them and closer than any brothers, and Maddi is drawn to them, especially Asher, who helps try unlocking her magic.

Out in town one day with Ilia, they are attacked by a group of Arterians, Atlantean assassins, who call her Macilinta of the Sonaris people, claiming she has royal blood. They get away with the help of the Atlantean-five and return to the academy, where they explain their history to Maddi, and that there is an Atlantean library somewhere in the academy that they have yet to find.

Now Maddi is left to unlock her Atlantean power, deal with mean girls, and survive in this new world.

Asher sacrifices himself for Maddi and leaves with the Arterians to help them raise Atlantis, leaving her with his “brothers” to care for her.

Months later, Maddi and the four Atlanteans go to the Greek islands in search of Asher and make it to the underground caves of Atlantis while being attacked by the Arterians. Using Maddi’s blood, after she stabbed her, the goddess Shera manages to raise Atlantis.

This is a fun and exciting read, there’s no slow-burn and from the first couple of pages, the author jumps straight into the story, giving background here and there when it’s needed.

The Supernatural Academy series is a light, somewhat spicy, with just right amount of drama kind of series. This is actually the second time I’ve read it, and I enjoyed it just as much as the first.

The characters are lovable and there is no enemies-to-lovers trope, making it a sweet book, the only bullying comes from the mean girls.
