Galantia isn’t human but a rare white Raven, and Malyr’s true mate and now with her unkindness fleeing him, how will he undo all the pain and hurt he has caused her.

We find out the Galantia isn’t the daughter of Lord and Lady Brisden, but a replacement child the Lady secured from a servant girl, after one of her babies died. This explains why Lady Brisden always prevented Galantia from crying or getting hurt, she didn’t want her husband to know the truth about her parentage.

Galantia confronts her mother about how she never felt loved by her, but in the end, she makes that ultimate sacrifice a mother can make and gives her own life for that of her daughter.

She is also the key in removing the shadows from Valtaris, as she is a void which allows her to take in the shadows covering the city.

Malyr does redeem himself, but I do think Galantia should have made him grovel a little more than what she did. After all, he treated her horribly when he believed she was a Brisden,  just because she turned out to be a Raven doesn’t erase what he did, but I understand that for the HEA to happen he needed to be forgiven.

The ending of this duet is bittersweet because while Galantia and Malyr find their happiness, we say goodbye to a beloved character who joins his bonded mate among the stars.

When I got to this part I cried, it has been a long time (not since my Harry Potter days) that I have bawled my eyes out over the loss of a character. So be warned, have your tissues ready before you read the ending,
