One her 21st birthday, Maisey Parker accepts a dare from her friend to climb a cliff and go into a “haunted” cave to take a selfie.
On her way to up the cliff she cuts her hand, and when she gets into the cave, she presses her hand against the wall and accidentally releases the Titan Cronus from a prison world. Because of her sacrifice Cronus and Maisey share a life debt and cannot be more than a few feet away from each other.
Cronus informs Maisey that he wants revenge on Zeus for killing the other Titans and locking him away in the prison world. While on their quest, they are approached by Thanatos who offers help in exchange for an immortality elixir that is locked up in a volcano in New Zealand, where only a Titan can enter.
During the book Maisey finds out she is the daughter of Selene, the goddess of the moon, and while in the volcano Pandoras Box calls to Maisey, and when a strand of her hair falls on the box, it opens and releases the nine deadly sins, which are gods.
The box is destroyed, and, in its place, there is a necklace which Maisey wears. Cronus tells Maisey they’ll need to raise the other Titans to trap the sins once more.
Since there isn’t a physical box to place the sins, Maisey takes them into herself, which weakens the bond between her and Cronus. He tells Maisey they need to visit a seer to find out how to keep her alive and trap the sins to save humanity.
Jessell, the seer, tells Cronus that Maisey is Pandoras Box and once she has consumed all the sins, she must die to destroy them for good. Cronus doesn’t want to accept this and does something to break their bond and leaves Maisey.
This series has shown up on the suggested books on my Kindle for a while, and I was never sure if I should read it, and I cannot express how happy I am that I did. It is full of intrigue, twists, adventure, and romance and while Maisey is left alone at the end of this book, I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us.
