About to be thrown onto the funeral pyre of King Alaster, as his bride, by the Brethren, Isavelle Harrow is saved by Zabriel and his dragon, Scourge.

He takes her to his camp, where she escapes to make her way back to her village, just to discover that the village has been deserted by everyone except Mistress Biddy Hawthorne. The Brethren find Isavelle at Biddy’s and capture her once again, leading Zabriel to rescue her for a second time.

Zabriel and the other dragon riders have been trapped under the Bodan Mountains for 500 years and have been freed for a week, where they have reclaimed Maledin and are driving the Brethren from their lands.

The people of Maledin see the dragon riders as invaders, as the truth about Maledinnis and dragons have become nothing, but stories told to children

Zabriel, an Alpha, immediately recognizes Isavelle as his Omega, but because Alphas and Omegas are long dormant, she doesn’t recognize him as hers.

Isavelle returns to Lenhale with Zabriel in search of her family or anyone from his village. It is here where she starts to learn who and what she is, and hers and Zabriel’s love story begins. During this book, Isavelle finds out that it was her connection to Zabriel as his mate that caused the dragons and riders to emerge from the Bodan Mountains.

The book ends o a cliffhanger, where Isavelle is pulled into a vision and through the veil by Emmeric, who is Zabriel’s brother.

I love how these authors combined the world of the Omegaverse with that of the fantasy genre. This was one of the first Omegaverse books I read and sent me on my mission to discover other types of books in this genre.

The characters are lovable, and their stories are well written, I adored Isavelle and Zabriel’s love story and how they come together to work as a team to make Maledin a happy place once more. There are also some really funny moments in this book that had me giggling out loud. This is another series where you should have the rest ready, because once you’ve finished one, you’ll definitely want to read the next. I would also like to issue a general warning that this is an extremely spicy and explicit series, so if you prefer closed door scenes, this isn’t the series for you.

The next book in this series is The Flame King’s Bride.
